“REAL UNDERGROUND MUSIC. Foot-tapping country & western laced with rock and jazz”
- The New York Post

“Hillbilly flavoured, swing inflected, rockabilly ragtime with a slice of country blues, Latin rhythms and gypsy spice for good measure… A modern Johnny Cash, Petunia seemingly walks out of the 50s and onto the modern stage with a bold and entirely intoxicating voice that will blow you away. You simply need to hear him for yourself.

The (optional) Dance Class

You don’t need to know swing or waltz to have a good time! This is the perfect partner dance lesson for folks who “don’t dance”. We’ll give you the foundations of partner dancing without any of the fancy footwork. You’ll come away with the basics of leading and following, and everything you need to dance all night – even if you’ve never done it before!

Why partner dancing? Ask your grandparents and they will remember weekly dances where everyone knew how to jive, waltz, polka and two step. How did this become a lost art? Dancing together connects us to ourselves, our partners, our friends, and our communities, and we want to show you how.

No partner? No problem. We rotate partners throughout the class and everyone gets a chance to dance.

Have a partner, and only want to dance with them? Also no problem! We’ll skip ya.

Don’t need a lesson? Totally okay to show up fashionably late.

Your Hosts

Hi! We’re Jess and Greg, and we teach dance classes at Revelry Arts.

Jess found partner dancing – swing, specifically – in 2011 and is thrilled to share her obsession with you! She’s learned at workshops and festivals around the world, performed in solo troupes, and taught popular classes here in 100 Mile House. Her favourite part of dancing is the play and partner connection.

Greg has been dancing for a few years now, and the experience of being a beginner is still fresh in his mind. His perspective is a great comfort to new dancers, and he loves these events!

People say…
